'Many questions': GOP senator can't say if Trump's Iran strikes were a good idea Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) couldn't bring herself to say whether she thought it was a good idea for President Donald Trump's administration to strike three Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend. During an appearance on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 on Monday night, Murkowski said there are still "many, many questions" that need to be answered about the strike. "Those of us in Congress are going to be seeking answers to those questions tomorrow at this classified briefing," Murkowski said. "I think that will be very instructive." Murkowski's comments come as questions about the efficacy of the U.S. strikes in Iran continue to swirl. Some experts have raised questions about whether the U.S. truly destroyed Iran's nuclear capabilities or just impeded Iran's progress for a few months. Vice President JD Vance offered little reassurance during an appearance on Fox News' "Special Report with Bret Baier" on Monday, saying the question before U.S. officials is not whether they destroyed Iran's existing enriched uranium. "I think we all recognize that the direction that Iran was heading with building up their nuclear capabilities was a place that was not acceptable," Murkowski said.
