According to KAERI, the ARMstrong Dex is a human-sized, dual-arm hydraulic robot currently under development for disaster response applications. To date, KAERI has licensed ARMstrong Dex’s manipulators, control systems, patents, and software to robotics firms like “Victex” (also referred to as “Big Tex”) for use in nuclear power plant dismantling, including decontamination, cutting, and handling radioactive materials. Humanoid robot lifts like a pro This humanoid robot’s heavy-lift arms, with a capacity of 441 pounds (200 kg), combined with dexterous manipulators, make it a versatile solution for high-risk environments where humans can’t operate safely. According to KAERI, the robot is designed to mimic human-like dexterity and strength. They also explain that it is capable of manipulating valves, plugging cords, carrying debris, and even using spray guns to curb fires.
