Michelle Obama Appears Relieved She Didn’t Have A Son Because ‘He Would Have Been A Barack Obama’ Former First Lady Michelle Obama commented on not having a son, saying he would have been a chip off the old block, in a Wednesday episode on her podcast. Obama was commenting on raising boy children on her IMO podcast jointly run with her brother, Craig Robinson, when she made the apparent quip. Their special guest in the episode was radio personality and former rapper and actress Angela “Angie” Martinez. Obama appealed to mothers to encourage in their sons resilience, a readiness for hurt, hardship, and disappointment, and familial and communal responsibility. “I know, I do that with my girls,” she said. “Teach [your son] about how to deal with a traffic stop, but also teach him about how to communicate in a marriage and be a listening father and to be a compassionate neighbor and to be a voting citizen — somebody who’s going to pay attention and care about something outside of himself,” she added. “And if you’re thinking about that human, then all these choices become a little more clear about what he needs as a grown man in the world.
