Huge breakthrough in gruesome murder of couple found dismembered and disemboweled with heads kept in fridge veg drawer SIXTY years after a couple was brutally murdered and chopped into pieces, a forensic sleuth believes he may have cracked the case wide open. On 23 June 1965, cops discovered the bodies of Fred and Edwina Rogers neatly cut up and stuffed in the shelves of their rusty icebox inside their Houston, Texas home. At first, the officers thought it was meat from a butchered pig, but then they saw two human heads visible through the glass of the fridge’s vegetable drawer. An autopsy showed that Edwina, 73, had been beaten and shot in the head, while Fred, 81, had been massacred with a claw hammer, with his eyes gouged out and genitals removed. The killer had been meticulous and barely left any blood in the house, which had been thoroughly cleaned. Their bodies had been drained and organs removed, cut up and flushed down a nearby sewer. The police determined that the killings had happened on Sunday, 20 June - Father’s Day.
