Donald Trump thanks Iran after missile strike as he brands attack on US base 'weak' Donald Trump has thanked Iran for giving the US 'early notice' of its missile strike on an American air base — and branded the attack 'weak'. The US president said 14 missiles were fired by Iran towards the Al Udeid base in Qatar and 13 were "knocked down" while another headed in a "nonthreatening direction". In a flurry of posts on social media, he dismissed the missile strike as "very weak" and said he hopes Tehran has "gotten it all out of their system". But Iran vowed to continue to strike back in response to Saturday's "bunker busting" bombs that took out key nuclear sites in the country. Commenting for the first time on the launch of ballistic missiles at the air base — which is the largest US military base in the Middle East and houses some 10,000 US military personnel — Trump said: "I am pleased to report that NO Americans were harmed, and hardly any damage was done."
