Plane forced to make emergency landing at major airport as engine 'catches fire' A plane had to make an emergency landing after it was filmed with an "engine on fire" from Harry Reid airport in Las Vegas. Local outlet KTNV reports the American Airlines flight had smoke coming out of it from the left engine. The aircraft is understood to be departing Las Vegas for North Carolina, but was forced to turn around to land back at Harry Reid airport. The aircraft returned safely back at Reid at 7:53am, 50 minutes after it took off, according to airport spokesperson Luke Nimmo. Several harrowing clips have emerged on social media showing the plane circling above Las Vegas, with one person saying: "Yo, that s***'s on fire!" Fire crews are investigating, and no injuries have been reported. Flightradar24 reveals the movements of American Airlines flight 1665. It was scheduled to leave Las Vegas (LAS) at 8am, but was then diverted back to LAS, completing a small loop around the area. It is now back on stand. There were 165 passengers on the flight. Last month, a plane "loaded with 200kg of super skunk" was crashed and set ablaze by its crew, who then scarpered after being intercepted by police.
