A mortuary worker has been charged with removing the genitals of a convicted sex offender post-mortem.

Amber Laudermilk, 34, worked as an embalmer at the undertakers that received the body of Charles Roy Rodriguez, a life-registered sex offender who died aged 58 in January this year. In 2001, he was hit with the lifelong condition after sexually assaulting a 31-year-old woman.

Court documents show how his body was received on February 7. Laudermilk found out he was a sex offender and took a scalpel to his body, with witnesses adding they saw her plunge it into his groin twice. She then chopped off his penis and put it in his mouth, the documents allege. Five witnesses have been called on to give testimony in the Texas case.
