Donald Trump makes bizarre 'king' comment when asked if Canada would be a 'very blue' 51st state

Donald Trump has suggested the Canadian border is an "artificial line" that was drawn with "a ruler" as he repeated calls for the country to be made the 51st US state.

Speaking at the White House on Friday, Trump was asked if he was concerned that Canada would be a "very, very blue" US state.

"It might be but…you have that artificial line that looks like it was drawn by a ruler. I don't mean a ruler like a king, I mean a ruler like a ruler," he said. "It's just an artificial line that was drawn in the sand or in the ice. You add that to this country - what a beautiful land mass,” he said

“Is it liberal? Maybe…I don't care who wins up there, frankly I probably would do better with a liberal rather than a conservative.”

Trump has proposed to erase the 5,525-mile-long border that separates the two countries, infuriating Canadians. He has threatened economic coercion in his annexation threats while declaring a trade war on his northern neighbor.
