Americans warned Iran-backed gangs plot attacks Swedish soil Media outlets in Sweden have reported that Iran could be pressuring certain criminal gangs to carry out attacks in Sweden against the United States, according to the U.S. Department of State Consular Affairs on X. The U.S. Department of State issued a Level 2 travel advisory in Sweden, warning people to “exercise increased caution” due to terrorism. Terrorists may attack with little or no warning, targeting tourist locations, transportation hubs, markets/shopping malls, local government facilities, hotels, clubs, restaurants, places of worship, parks, major sporting and cultural events, educational institutions, airports, and other public areas,” the State Department wrote on its website. The State Department also told those who may be traveling to or in Sweden to be aware of their surroundings when in popular tourist locations, follow instructions given by local authorities, monitor local news outlets for breaking news, and be prepared to change any plans based on new information.
