‘There’s Clips Online!’ ESPN’s Christ Canty Grilled by Colleagues for Blatantly Flip-Flopping on Take About Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts

ESPN Radio host Chris Canty was put on the spot by his own colleagues when he was caught flip-flopping on a take about Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.

On Monday’s episode of Unsportsmanlike, Canty and his co-hosts were reacting to the Eagles’ 55-23 win over the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game. During their conversation, they brought up prior criticisms of Hurts. The 26-year-old QB had less-than-stellar performances in the team’s first two playoff games before a strong showing in the conference championship.

While some in the sports media remain unsure of Hurts’s future as a franchise QB, Canty claimed he had always viewed him as one of the top signal callers in the league.

“Like, I’m just sitting back looking at the rankings that I had of the quarterbacks coming into the postseason,” Canty said. “I had Jalen Hurts sixth, so right outside of the top five. Now, retroactively, that might be a little low; but there was plenty of respect that we had for this show when it comes to the Jalen Hurts of it all.”

When Canty later said he ranked Hurts as a top-10 quarterback coming into the season, an off-screen producer couldn’t help but interject.

“You also had him outside the top 10 at one point,” the producer said.
