Supreme Court rules US can deport violent criminal aliens to third party countries

The order came after a deportation flight carrying men from Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cuba, and Mexico was diverted to Djibouti .

The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that deportations of migrants to third countries can continue without additional due process requirements that were imposed by a district court judge, says ABC News. This will allow the case to continue through the lower courts.

The order came after a deportation flight carrying men from Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cuba, and Mexico was diverted to Djibouti after initially being scheduled to land in South Sudan. The rerouting was made to allow the individuals time to contest their deportation, according to US officials.

The men aboard the flight had been convicted of violent offenses, including murder, sexual assault, kidnapping, and robbery. Officials say that the individuals should not be allowed back into the US.

Previously, Judge Brian Murphy in Massachusetts had ordered that the Trump administration would have to maintain custody of illegal immigrants that were flown to South Sudan.

Murphy held an emergency hearing in May, and issued an order instructing the administration “to maintain custody and control of class members currently being removed to South Sudan or to any other third country, to ensure the practical feasibility of return if the Court finds that such removals were
